Meet Our Pastor
Reverend Brian L. Nixon
Reverend Brian L. Nixon was born and raised in Denver, NC. He is the son
of Herman & Clara Nixon. While growing up, he was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church. Rev. Nixon is a graduate of East Lincoln High School and upon graduation, he entered NC State University. While at NC State, he earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Business Management, while also earning a Minor in African American History. While on campus, Rev. Nixon engaged in many campus activities such as serving as a columnist for the campus newspaper, being a Graduation Marshal, and serving as Student Body Treasurer. In his senior year, he was elected the
2nd African American Student Body President in the schools history. Upon graduation in 1990, he accepted employment with The DuPont Company in Wilmington, De.
Rev. Nixon received his call to ministry in 1995 and was under the tutelage of Dr. Sidney Locks Jr and the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church. In the same year, he was accepted into the Shaw University Graduate Schools Master of Divinity program in Raleigh, NC and he remained there until 1999.
While at Cornerstone, Rev. Nixon served in several leadership capacities such as Chairman of the Men’s Ministry, Young Adult Bible Study Teacher, Youth Detention Ministry Leader and a host of other roles. In 2003, he and his family moved to Salisbury, Md. and he was under the watch care of Rev. Lewis N. Watson and the First Baptist Church of Salisbury, Md.
While at First Baptist, Rev. Nixon served as the Abrahamic Conference Co-Chair, New Members Orientation Instructor, Christian Board of Education member, and Ministerial Staff Administrator. His last role was as the Events Coordinator for the newly constructed Family Life & Cultural Center.
In November of 2005, Rev. Nixon and his family were called to be the Pastor and First Family of the historic Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Pungoteague, Va. where he sought to reach the lost and convert unbelievers.
During his Pastorate, God was busy birthing new ministries at Holy Trinity such as SOCK (Saving Our Church’s Kids) Youth Ministry, “Holy Trinity Half-Hour Of Power” Radio Broadcast Ministry, Praise Posse Youth Choir, Drama & Dance Ensemble Ministry, Church Vehicle purchase, Multiple Church and Parsonage Renovations and Upgrades, Family Night Ministry, Annual Church Family Vacation Outreach Ministry, Men’s/Women’s/Single’s Ministries, Mortgage Payoff and the establishment of a Tape & Video Ministry to name a few.
In 2009, God moved Rev. Nixon and his family to the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. Upon his arrival, they joined and were active members of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Wayne L. Johnson. Rev. Nixon was busy upon his arrival by serving on the Ministerial Staff, teaching Bible Study, New Members Orientation, and other tasks as needed.
In January 2010, Rev. Nixon and his family were called to be the Pastor and First Family of the Transforming Faith Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tn where he is excited about doing the Lord’s Work in the Tennessee Valley.
Rev. Nixon is married to the former Kimberley Whittington. They are the proud parents of 3 beautiful children: Amber, Brandon, and Christa. They currently reside in Ooltewah, Tn.
